Project Epsilon
Hyper-Local Service Marketplace

Project Overview
Led a team of 4 developers in building a marketplace connecting customers with local service providers including electricians, plumbers, technicians, and other skilled workers.
Problem Statement
Local service booking is often fragmented, leading to communication lag, unclear prices, and high search costs. Trainees needed a platform that handles real-time vendor discovery, location matching, and automated bookings.
The Solution
Led a team of 4 developers to build a hyper-local marketplace connecting customers with technicians (electricians, plumbers). Built backend services using Django and a responsive client interface in React.
Key Features
- Location matching and radius search for nearby service providers.
- Technician availability calendar slot booking management.
- Full-stack architecture with Django REST Framework.
- Optimized query pipelines reducing search responses under 200ms.
- Client and provider messaging status channels.
System Architecture
Django REST Framework for API backend. PostgreSQL database. Redis cache for search results. React.js with Redux Toolkit for the vendor-client dashboard.
Challenges & Solutions
Managing concurrent service slot bookings and optimizing spatial queries for locating technicians in a specific radius.
Results & Impact
Reduced API latency by 55% from 450ms to <200ms by optimizing queries and utilizing Redis caching. Received the Uplifters Award for leadership.
